In the early days of most hardware, functionality comes before form. After all, what was important was to make sure a particular device or machine worked as intended – no more, no less. After that, you are more or less free to think of ways to not only make that functional machine smaller and more efficient, but also nicer to look at with your own two eyes. Take the smartphone for instance, Apple’s iPhone was clearly head above shoulders from the other QWERTY-sliding smartphones back in 2007, and this design idea has filtered down to current day smartphones, too.
